This is our time to relax and break free from the problems that may have been bothering us. This is the time for us to re-energize and refresh ourselves. Even the seasoned traveler, in one way or another, has encountered problems like losing wallets or having them stolen. I cannot assure you that you wouldnt encounter any vacation trip problems but by planning and being well prepared you can achieve to having that stress free vacation.

I guess one of the major concerns in traveling would actually be your pocket or travel money. Without money how would you pay for your expenses let alone purchase a souvenir. It is important that you safely secure your money, budget it wisely and avoid overspending to prevent any future problems.

Most travelers store their money, valuables and passports in pouches specifically designed for travel purposes. This is a very good alternative to the traditional wallet for these pouches are fastened or draped around your neck or around your waist beneath your clothes so as not to be visible to potential pick pockets.

It is advisable that you do not bring with you too much cash and instead opt to utilize your credit card in making payments for accommodation, food, and other purchases. If it is necessary for you to bring such an amount of cash, I suggest that you carry just enough for what you need during the day and stash the rest of your cash in the hotel vault for security.

Do not put all your money in one location. If possible, spread them out so that in case you lose some from theft, you still have money to last the trip. You can also put in this extra wallet other credit cards and ATM cards for untoward incidents. Having an extra wallet stored in your suitcase or travel bag would be ideal.

When you will be gone for a long vacation, inform your relatives and friends of your itinerary so that they will be aware of how and where to contact you in case of emergencies. Always keep at home a photocopy of your passport, important documents and identification papers.

If you take certain medications, make sure that you bring along with you enough to last you for the entire trip to avoid the hassle of buying the medicines elsewhere. There might be the possibility that their pharmacies dont carry the medicine you may need.

With careful planning, you are not far from having a great vacation.
Article Directory: http://www.articledashboard.com
By: Mary Lorainne -

Mary Lorainne writes about carnival discount, Travelocity discount code

Google

Got To Get Away: Stretch Your Vacation Dollars

With the dollar receiving an old fashioned beating from the euro right now, vacations to popular European destinations like England, France and Spain have become quite pricey. Not to fret though, with a little planning, you can still enjoy your European vacation without breaking the bank.

Not flying across the pond for some R&R? You can still save cash by traveling smart, regardless of your vacation destination. Read on, oh wandering soul.

Prevent your wallet from getting euro-trashed

If youre heading to Europe, prepare yourself financially. While Paris and London are must-sees for the vacationing Yankee, they can put a hurting on your billfold. Vacations in Western Europe today cost 35 to 40 percent more than they did as little as two years ago. Why? Its all about the exchange rate. The euro rules the day over our weakened dollar, meaning youll have to pick and choose your spots when it comes to traveling abroad.

Before you book, research your options. Purchasing a vacation package (airfare & hotel) through an online travel broker like expedia.com or travelocity.com could save you big bucks. If youre planning on staying long-term in one place, look into renting a house or apartment. Its cheaper than a hotel room, sleeps more, is roomier, and youll be able to cook your own food instead of eating out every day. Also, many vacation packages will allow you to lock in a rate well before your travel dates. If the dollar continues to fall against the euro after you book, youll save big and look like a genius. If the dollar rallies, however, you lose.

Remember, Europe is more than just England and France. Consider visiting some of the Eastern Block countries like Hungary, Poland or Lithuaniayoull be pleasantly surprised. Gone are the Cold War misconceptions of these countries. Instead, travelers will encounter friendly natives, stunning views, and vibrant nightlife. Whats more, these countries have yet to adopt the euro, meaning your dollar will go a lot farther.

But if its Western Europe or bust for you, you can still ease the pain that the mighty euro brings. Book your trip early to ensure you get the flights and hotels you want. If you want to see a lot of Europe, consider a cruise. If youre on a budget, consider a short three or four day stopover and tackle only the sights you absolutely have to see. Finally, when traveling about the European countryside, always set a daily limit on your spending.

Destination: anywhere? Money saving travel tips.

Regardless of where you vacation, following a few simple rules will minimize the impact on your bottom line while maximizing your fun. Always remember to:

1. Shop around. Just like anything else, deals are to be had if you know where to look. Check online resources for the best deals.
2. Only use a travel agent for big trips to far away places. You can handle the details of a weekend getaway.
3. Travel in the off season. Find out when your desired destinations peak tourist season is, and dont go then. Off season prices are much more acceptable.
4. Flexibility is key. Changing your travel itinerary by just a day or two can save you big.
5. For cruises, book early to take advantage of big savings. If using an agent, get one whos a cruise expert. She can save you money and probably secure a few perks along the way.
6. When renting a car, only get the smallest possible one you can handle. Its cheaper and so is the gas. At the counter, ask for a free upgrade; it doesnt hurt to try. Always refuel your rental before you return it to avoid getting gouged by the return lot. Never rent a car at the airport, rates are better elsewhere. Finally, if you can understand the citys public transportation, use it instead of renting a car.
7. When on the road, carry a cooler full of drinks and snacks. By stopping at a grocery store and loading up on supplies (e.g., aspirin, water, sunscreen, film) before you wander the countryside, youll avoid being taken to the cleaners by roadside tourist traps.
Article Directory: http://www.articledashboard.com
By: Joseph Kenny

Joe Kenny writes for the Card Guide, a UK based credit cards site, visit today for introductory 0% balance transfers and start clearing credit card debt today.
Visit today: www.cardguide.co.uk/

Google

Researching Your Cruise Ship Options

Each year, a large number of individuals make the decision to book a cruise ship getaway. When it comes to vacationing aboard a cruise ship, you are presented with an unlimited number of options. There are a large number of cruise lines that operate numerous cruise ships. In fact, there are so many cruise ships available that many individuals, maybe even yourself included, do not know where to start.

The first step in planning a cruise ship vacation is making the decision to take one. Traveling aboard a cruise ship can be a fun and exciting experience, but it is not for everyone. Cruises ships often require residing in close corridors for an extend period of time. If you have a difficult time dealing with crowds or you are looking for an overnight vacation, you may want to reexamine your decision to schedule a cruise ship vacation.

If you have already decided that a cruise ship vacation is what you want, you will need to find a cruise ship that interests you. This is where many individuals develop a problem. As previously mentioned, there are a number of different cruise lines. Each of these cruises lines operates a number of different cruise ships. Each cruise ship is likely to travel to different destinations and offer different activities, services, and facilities.

When searching for the perfect cruise ship, you have numerous options. Many travelers automatically start searching for the cruise ship of their dreams. Searching for a cruise ship is, in a way, different than searching for a cruise line. If you do not have a preference as to which cruise ship line youd like to travel with, it may be easier to search for cruises based on themes, destinations, or onboard activities. A standard internet search is a great way to educate yourself on the cruise ships available.

If you prefer to travel with a specific cruise line, you will want to research that particular cruise line. You can visit the cruise lines online website to further educate yourself or else you can perform a standard internet search. If you are unaware of the cruise line selection you have, you can easily familiarize yourself. There are a number of travel websites that offer information and links to the websites of popular cruise lines. Performing an internet search with the keywords cruise lines, is likely to produce a large number of results.

In your search, it is likely that you will come up with popular cruise lines, including Royal Caribbean, Carnival Cruse Lines, Disney Cruise Lines, Princess Cruises, and much more. Once you are able to view the online website of each cruise line, you can begin to search for cruise ships with reservations still available. When browsing through each cruise ship, you will likely be presented with standard information. This information may outline the activities available onboard, destinations, travel stops, and the cost of reserving a cabin.

The Disney Cruise Line is one of the most well-known and sought after cruise lines for individuals vacationing with a family. If you are interested in scheduling a Disney cruise, you will see that the two cruise ships used are named Disney Wonder and Disney Magic. Each ship has onboard Disney characters and beautiful dcor. The main differences between the two ships are the character statues found onboard.

Carnival Cruise Lines is well-known among frequent travelers. They offer a wide range of cruises; however, their main focus seems to be on fun cruises. When researching Carnival Cruise Lines, you will see that they have over 20 fun ships. These ships target cruise goers who are interested in socializing, partying, and having an adventure over the water. Popular cruise ships include, but are not limited to Fantasy, Ecstasy, Celebration Fascination, and Sensation.

Royal Caribbean is another one of the many well-known cruise lines in the world. They are famous for their international cruises. Just a few of their many cruise ships include Adventure of the Seas, Brilliance of the Seas, Jewel of the Seas, and Navigator of the Seas. With twenty-one cruise ships, you are sure to find what you are looking for with Royal Caribbean

Researching each cruise line and cruise ships, individually, may take time. If you are pressed for time you can seek the assistance of a travel agent. Whichever method of research you select, research is important. It is the best way to find the perfect cruise ship for you and your family.
Article Directory: http://www.articledashboard.com
By: John Ugoshowa

John Ugoshowa. As if this were not enough, the extent of the problem as far as articles is concerned is to a certain extent on whether you are publishing or writing articles. Here in this brief article we are going to examine the problem from the perspective of the publisher.

There is an enormous quantity of duplicate content floating around now and there are clearly occasions when it is appropriate to use it. For instance, if you have a website talking about American history you may decide to include details of the Declaration of Independence and post sections of it, or perhaps the text of the whole document. Obviously in this case it would be ridiculous to rewrite it to escape any duplicate content penalty.

By the same token, if you come across a well written article that would be of value to your audience you might feel that it is fitting to publish it on your website. Here the writer clearly holds the rights to the article and will normally only allow its use providing it is not altered in any manner and that he is credited for the article by adding his 'about the author' paragraph at the foot of the article.

In both of these cases you will clearly be adding a page to your website that is going to be viewed as duplicate content by the search engines and will present you with problems as far as ranking high in the search results is concerned. But does this matter?

Many webmasters now have become obsessed with achieving high search engine rankings and have forgotten about the true purpose of a website which is to provide a resource for your visitors. If at this point you are expecting me to say that the primary purpose of your website is to make money for you then some re-thinking is needed.

One problem for a lot of webmasters is that while they want to use their website to make money the search engines could not care less whether you make money or not (putting to one side the issue of their own in-house search advertising programs) and are going to rank pages in their search results depending upon how relevant each page is to the search term entered and whether or not they think that the page is going to give the searcher the information that he requires.

Obviously, if your page is considered relevant and placed highly in the search results you are going to receive traffic and therefore make money and herein lies the key.

Your objective ought to be to build a website that provides valuable content for your audience and that is designed to have them staying on your website and navigating from page to page and will also have them adding your website to their favorites menu and coming back on a regular basis.

To a large extent this means that you need to provide fresh and unique content on a regular basis which you will need to write yourself or outsource to other people to write for you. It is this unique and fresh content that will be indexed by the search engines to provide you with your free search engine traffic. However, there are two other things that you have to consider.

First of all, for your website to have 'authority' and to command the attention of your visitors it will need to provide both width and depth in covering your subject and here referring to and quoting or publishing the work of other people can be extremely helpful.

Second, despite the fact that the search engines rank pages rather than websites, there is no doubt that they are also evaluating your website as a whole and giving weight to your individual pages to a certain extent on their value as a part of your overall website.

The bottom line is that, while the majority of your website should be made up of fresh and unique content, there is without doubt a part to be played by using well written and relevant articles from other writers wherever these add weight to the overall message that your website is conveying.
Article Directory: http://www.articledashboard.com
By: Donald Saunders

WebMarketingCentre.com provides information on article writing and article submission and is also an article directory where you can pick up a free online article for your website or ezine and to which you can submit articles on a wide variety of topics including articles on cancer and much more.

Google

Frustrated By Your Work-at-home Search?

This week I got a call from someone who indicated that he was doing everything that I and other work-at-home coaches had suggested he do to find a work-at-home job, but so far he wasn't getting results. I could hear the frustration in his voice, and it brought me back to when I struggled to work-at-home and met with frustration and disappointment as well. Indeed, frustration and disappointment are two of the biggest hurdles struggling work-at-home wannabes face. But there are some things you can do to help deal with the challenges in trying to work-at-home.

1) Have realistic expectations: We live in a a society focused on instant gratification, but the odds of deciding to work at home today and actually doing it tomorrow are slim. Depending on what you choose to do, it can take 6 months to 2 years to create a work-at-home income. Not only do you need to be realistic about the time frame in reaching work-at-home success, but you also need to choose realistic methods. People don't pay the mortgage doing surveys or reading email, neither do they simply sign up for something and make money. Working at home takes work. Lots of it!

2) Do your research: The best way to develop a realistic expectation related to working at home is to educate yourself about telecommuting and home business. Research will teach you what it takes and how long it takes to really work at home, help you avoid scams, and keep you focused on the right types of activities.

3) Look for opportunities that fit your skills and interests: Too many people look for the fast, quick buck and end up wasting time and money as these opportunities almost always turn out to be scams or deceptive schemes. Instead, make a list of all your skills, experiences, interests and hobbies, and search for jobs or home business ideas that fit what you know how to do. You're more likely to be successful pursuing your passion than the money.

4) Evaluate your efforts: If you aren't getting results from a job search, have someone look over your resume, and make sure you are qualified to do the job. If you are trying to build a home business, evaluate your marketing methods to see what's not working.

5) Keep on keeping on: I haven't met anyone that hasn't spent a great deal of time and effort to work at home. The one thing that separates them from others who aren't successful is that they never gave up. They kept on learning about working at home, searching and applying for the right opportunities, and evaluating their efforts until they finally reach their goal.

There is a saying about the only certainties in life are taxes and death. In the work-at-home world, there are some certainties as well and those are that you'll be frustrated and disappointed. But these are temporary if you are able to manage the difficult times and forge ahead towards your goal.
Article Directory: http://www.articledashboard.com
By:

Leslie Truex is a work-at-home coach who has been helping people work-at-home since 1998. A team of scientists from NTT Data, Toyota InfoTechnology Centre, and Toyota Mapmaster, will begin work on a personalized car navigation system.

Both the French and German governments announced similar projects earlier this year, collaborating on development of the Quaero search engine. Quaero, Latin for I search, is still under the development, but Germany has since pulled out of the project, leaving it to the newly created French Agency for Industrial Innovation.

The Japanese announcement of a search engine development comes after concerns expressed by the Japanese government that the reputation and influence of companies like Google contribute to growing fears that the country, known for its technological innovations, is now falling behind.

Toshihide Yahiro, director of the information service industry division at the Ministry of Economy, Trade, and Industry, is optimistic about the project, and was quoted, according to Information World Review Online, as saying The question is how Japanese companies like Sharp and Matsushita can be encouraged to provide services.

They (the researchers involved in the project) clearly know how to build things, and the key to Japans competitiveness has been our core technology, Yahrio added.
Article Directory: http://www.articledashboard.com
By: Christiane Sing

Christiane Sing is a reporting editor for SEOhaus a San Diego Internet Marketing Company

Google

How To Compare Travel Rewards Credit Cards

Travel rewards credit cards are also referred to as airline credit cards. Card holders with these types of credit cards earn travel miles whenever they use their credit cards to make payments.

Like all other credit cards, one size does not fit all when it comes to travel rewards credit cards. To get the most benefit from such a card, the customer needs to get the best card for their own needs.

Comparing travel rewards credit cards is a little bit different than comparing cards although some of the benchmarks remain the same. The first thing that needs to be examined is how often you travel. A person who travels often and therefore track up travel miles quickly may opt for a card with high redemption points. Remember that cards mileage awards can expire and if you have to wait for an extended period to earn points, you may well end up losing out.

While the interest rate, that is, APR is important, if you are the type of cardholder that clears your balances at the end of each billing cycle, this becomes less significant. However, the card holder who always carries a balance forward or incurs late charges, needs to be concerned with the APR when selecting a credit card. Some travel rewards cards start out offering 0 APR or low APR, but generally this is just for select period. When comparing interest rates look at the rates after the introductory period and ask if they are fixed or variable.

Check the travel rewards against your annual fees as well. If you pay a high annual fee and receive minimal rewards you may want to reconsider using that particular card. Also, a card can incur no fees for an introductory period only, but that period has passed you will see fees being attached. So look for or ask for details on this.
Article Directory: http://www.articledashboard.com
By: Eric Wasselman

To compare travel rewards credit cards, Eric Wasselman recommends Find Credit Cards. What previously was mostly a network of research institutions has become an unprecedented medium for commercial and social use. With the number of web pages now exceeding 12 billion it is extremely difficult to find information without using search engines.

Search engines appeared almost immediately once the WWW was born. A pioneering search engine called Archie was created in the University of Montreal in 1990 and was used to search files located on public FTP sites. The first search engine created to crawl and index text files on the web, World Wide Web Wanderer or Wandex, was introduced in 1993 in MIT and worked on principals similar to those used by the modern web search engines.

However it was not until late 90s when search engines have become the major tool to find information on the Internet. Before Internet directories such as Yahoo! or BestOfTheWeb were used to locate web pages. But it didn't take long for web users to recognize the usefulness of the Internet search, once indexing and ranking algorithms have reached a state where search engines were able to quickly return highly relevant results

Search Results Relevancy

It is all about the relevancy of results. In their infancy search engines were utterly vulnerable to abuse. Originally search engines used to index file names and later meta-tags. It doesn't take much to stuff file names and meta-tags with popular keywords which are irrelevant to the document's content. When a user queried a search engine with a keyword he received results that couldn't satisfy him. That is why Internet directories with pages classified into directories by human reviewers were far more useful than the search engines of those days.

The problem of relevancy has become increasingly important with the growing commercial use of the Web. The profits of commercial websites depend on their exposure and if there is anything that can help improve the exposure in search results - it must be done. And the first attempts to influence the search results by using popular but not relevant keywords to drive more traffic were made.

With their increasing computational and storage capacity search engine have become able to index the entire content of a page. But it was still possible to abuse search results by using excessive keyword stuffing, hidden keyword-rich text or many other spammy techniques. Basing solely on the page content it was impossible to ensure the relevancy of search results and more advanced ranking algorithms were introduced.

Search Engine Optimization

But even modern sophisticated search engine algorithms are not perfect and can't guarantee 100% relevancy. There still exist many loopholes that can be exploited to manipulate search results. Search results manipulation is not necessarily an unethical conduct. Consider three biggest travel websites: http://Travelocity.com, http://Expedia.com and http://Priceline.com. They provide booking service of a similar quality and are equally relevant for keywords like 'vacation' or 'airline tickets'. But nevertheless they rank differently in search results, and it is natural for a lower ranked site to try improving its position by using search engine optimization techniques.

Search Engine Optimization, or SEO, is about defining what factors influence the placement of a page in search results and adjusting these factors to obtain a higher position. To optimize the relevance of a page you have to adjust keyword frequency and proximity, add keywords into headings and bold text. It must look natural though - excessive keyword stuffing might have negative effects. To increase the popularity of a page you must obtain incoming links with targeted keywords in the anchor text, and make sure that links come from authoritative pages but not from irrelevant link farms.

Search engine optimization is an extremely dynamic field. Once a loophole in ranking algorithms becomes known and widely used, search engines change their algorithms to neutralize its effect. Every algorithm update can drastically affect positions and traffic of websites utilizing aggressive crash and burn optimization strategies. Such strategies are based on the most recently discovered loopholes and tricks and are able to put your pages into top positions quite quickly. Their effect however lasts only to the next algorithm update.

Another far more time-consuming approach is the creation of websites with high quality content following so-called Google quality guidelines. This approach emphasizes the website's value for users and persuades against using tricks to manipulate search results. In short - good websites eventually will rank high. But it takes years and tons of effort to make a site popular this way. Some sites are by their nature difficult to promote this way. For example few grocery stores can afford turning their websites into top Internet grocery portals; it just wouldn't be worth the effort.

SEO alone can't guarantee a lasting effect. Not using SEO at all requires too much effort to promote a site. The wise way to make a website popular is make sure that it is useful for users, obtain quality incoming links and do not forget to fine tune your pages focusing the targeted keywords. With travel industry experts predicting an overall increase in daily hotel rates for 2006, combining work and pleasure not only helps keep the family together but could save you money.

According to Travelocity, half of all business professionals include a leisure component in their work-related travels, with more than 70 percent planning to bring family with them on trips this year.

"The blended business/family trip is quickly becoming a significant trend," said Dorothy Dowling, senior vice president of marketing for Best Western International.

To ensure successful "combination" travel for you and your family, consider these tips:

• Choose a family-friendly hotel with business services: You'll have more money to spend on activities and attractions by staying at a hotel with services such as free high-speed Internet access, free breakfast, free roll-out beds and kids-stay-free programs.

• Take advantage of loyalty programs: If you travel frequently on business, you could take advantage of these incentive clubs to qualify for free air miles and hotel room nights. Seasonal promotions also help travelers earn special rewards faster. For example, members of Best Western's free Gold Crown Club International program who stay six nights at any Best Western hotel between June 4 and August 19 will receive a collectible Nickelodeon "The Fairly OddParents" Travel Card worth $50.

• Don't forget Fido: For many travelers, the biggest source of stress before going on any trip is figuring out what to do with the family pet. Many hotels today welcome pets, making it possible to keep the whole family together.

• Find a hotel with a water park: With attendance at North American water parks increasing at a rate of 3 percent every year, some hotels offer this unique amenity on-site. The new Best Western Edgewater Resort & Water Park in Duluth, Minn., features an exploding volcano in a 35,000-square-foot facility, along with a 400-foot-long lazy river. Your kids will thank you.

• Be flexible, relax and have fun! It's important to recognize that schedules change, meetings may come up or the kids could get sick, so everyone needs to be flexible.

Your next business trip could also be a minivacation with the family.
Article Directory: http://www.articledashboard.com
By: John Terry

Google

Popular Cruise Ship Travel Options

When it comes to planning a vacation aboard a cruise ship, many individuals focus their planning solely on their cruise. For many individuals, this can be a costly mistake. While the cruise itself is important, so is how you plan on making it to your vacation.

Unfortunately, a large number of individuals are unaware that they must make travel arrangements to their cruise ships departure location. When many individuals become aware of this fact, it is often too late for them to change their mind. You are encouraged not to be one of those individuals. When booking a cruise, it is important to keep a cruise ships departure location in mind. Doing so may prevent unnecessary travel expenses.

Selecting a cruise ship, with a close departure location, is advisable. Unfortunately, for many this is impossible. A limited number of costal locations serve as cruise ship departure ports. If you are unable to find a cruise ship departure location that is within a short distance to your home, you need to consider the cost of travel while booking your reservations. This cost is important because it may cause your vacation costs to exceed what you had previously expected.

In the event that you must make travel plans to reach your cruise ship departure location, you should consider all options. These options may include driving your own vehicle, renting a car, flying on an airplane, riding the bus, or taking the train. All of the foresaid travel methods are doable, but the option you select will likely depend on convenience and the cost of travel.

There are a number of advantages and disadvantage to driving yourself to your cruise ship departure location. The greatest advantage of doing so is that your travel will be easy. Simply by hopping into your vehicle and hitting the road, you could be on your way. When driving your own vehicle, planning is often easier. The only downside to driving your own vehicle is the cost of gasoline. If you are required to drive a long distance, the cost could substantially add up.

If you are worried about the excessive miles on your own vehicle, you could rent one. Vehicle rentals are a popular way to reach your designation without an excessive amount of planning. Unfortunately, the cost of gasoline will also have an impact on driving. In addition to the cost of gasoline, the length of your cruise may also have an effect on the total cost of renting a vehicle. Vehicle rentals are charged by the day; therefore, if your car rental is left in a parking lot you may be wasting money.

Flying is a popular travel method; however, it can be a costly one. Individuals trying to reach their cruise ship departure location are often encouraged not to arrive at their destination by airplane, unless absolutely necessary. This is due to the cost of flying. If your cruise ship departure port is only a few hours a way, air travel may not be the best option. However, there are some cases where air travel may be the only option. If you are without your own vehicle, flying may be necessary to reach your cruise ships departure location.

Traveling to your cruise ships departure location by bus or train are other acceptable travel options. Each is likely to take some time, but they are both inexpensive ways to travel. Many individuals can easily afford a bus ticket or a train ticket. Aside from excessive stops, it is possible that you may not have access to either. Bus stations and train stations are only available in limited locations. You may find it difficult or impossible to find a station that offers service to the location of your choice.

Each of the above mentioned travel methods all have their advantages and disadvantages. To find the perfect method of travel to reach your cruise ships departure location, you should weigh the advantages and disadvantages of each method. Once you have decided which method best fits your needs, you can rest assure knowing that you will make it on time for your cruise ships departure.
Article Directory: http://www.articledashboard.com
By: John Ugoshowa

John Ugoshowa. Blagging their way onto Concorde represented the pinnacle of transatlantic travel achievement. Few company travel policies allow such luxury, but Concorde rarely flew without a majority of business travel passengers.

Concorde flights spawned many excuses. Shorter time without a cigarette, fear of flying, creativity etc. Since Concorde retired, first class became the main goal - followed by business class, or maximum air miles.

Company travel managers can actually save their companies vastly more money than negotiating with travel suppliers. If someone flies economy instead of business, that's often worth about four tickets.

But the big company employee still holds a bag of tricks :

* Medical
* Schedule
* Late Booking
* Hotels
* Inefficient Systems
* Promotion

Medical grounds provide good excuses for upgrade. Did you hear the expression 'economy class syndrome' ? It refers to deep-vein thrombosis. This, undoubtedly unpleasant and dangerous condition, produces the biggest increase in business class upgrade requests. Many people actually hand over a medical certificate to support their claim know any doctor friends ?

A good trick manipulates Schedules. This works well for people collecting air miles. Simply arrange your meeting so you can only get there using your preferred flight.

Book late, hoping economy sells-out early, and only business class seats remain. This common ploy usually fails if company policy requires an advance notice period.

Even if you can't get your preferred flight upgrade, a 5 * hotel will help soothe your disappointment. Although travel managers carefully monitor air travel and car hire, they're less likely to have local hotel knowledge. You can find yourself in a far superior hotel than company policy really allows.

Your company may run a strict travel policy. But inefficient systems prevent them actually detecting your abuse. Try to find out how your company checks its business travel. Does the travel agent provide reports ? Are you forced to use a corporate card that itemizes all your expenses ? Even if they do, not all companies actually analyze the data. Search for chinks in your companies travel policy armour.

Finally, if all else fails, get promotion ! Yes, if you get a senior management position you can ignore your own rules. Or you might finally be entitled to the standard of travel you feel appropriate to you.

Using these six ways, and any others you can think of, every business trip soon becomes a luxury you can look forward to.

Air Fare

The key to finding low-cost airfares is flexibility, know-how and even luck.

Some tips are given here for a chea air fare:

* Use insider language when you search for a flight

If you book directly through an airline, specifically ask for the lowest published fare. If you don't, you could get a higher fare on the same flight, same seat. In fact, tickets are classified by everything from restrictions on cancellation to numbers of days before flight time. A seat with more restrictions and a lower price is fine for the average pleasure or business traveler.

After asking for the lowest fare, inquire for any available promotions on that day or coming up soon.

* Use the Web to shop for cheaper flights

Comparing fares used to be a full-time job. No more. Frequent travelers can learn about fare wars online, via e-mail or by fax.

* Look for promotions

Special promotions are offered all the time by airlines, usually in concert with a credit card company or a retailer.

* Buy APEX'

If you book directly with an airline, plan ahead enough to get an APEX (Advance Purchase Excursion) fare. Buy your tickets seven, 14 or 21 days before the flight and stay over a Saturday. Tickets are nonrefundable, but often can be exchanged for a $100 fee. On domestic flights, APEX costs about one-third or less than the regular fare. British Airways and Virgin Atlantic shave an extra $100 off if you book 90 days or 45 days ahead respectively. Airlines change fare policies quickly, however, so call airlines regularly.

* Book through consolidators

Consolidators are companies that buy blocks of tickets from airlines and resell them at a discount from 30% to 60%. The only catch is that you may not get frequent-flier miles and changing plans may be more restrictive. You can call directly or use a travel agent. Some airlines have their own consolidators.

* Look for creative booking strategies

If you like puzzles, you can book that $224 round trip special from Boston to Miami for mid-April, then fly to the Bahamas for another $193. The round trip from New York is about $501. You save $84. Especially for long flights or offbeat destinations, this can work wonders. But if the savings are relatively modest, then you must decide if convenience is worth the extra price.

* Consider charter airlines

Charter companies hire airplanes and fill them to the brim. It's not my favorite way to travel for several reasons.

* Companion fares for two

Airlines often offer special companion fares to induce you and your significant other to choose that carrier. The fares are often based on a higher priced ticket for the first traveler, but offer significantly reduced rates for the second passenger. The sum total is less than if you bought two tickets at even a discounted rate.

Flying for less is not a difficult task. Just because the person next to you paid full freight to fly in a crowded coach section of a cross-continent flight doesn't mean you have to share in that experience.
Article Directory: http://www.articledashboard.com
By: Jacky Uy

Jacky Uy writes for www.cheapairfareguide.info where you can find out more about cheap airfare guides and other topics.

Travel Blog

The Best Way To Travel With Your Equipment

At one time or another, you are going to have to transport your equipment, even if it's only a half hour away to the local club where you contracted to play. Whether you transport your equipment in a truck, van, or SUV, the important thing is to make sure that everything is protected not only from the weather, but also from any bumps that may occur in the road. To do that, you want to make sure that you have everything protected with either a blanket or an instrument covering. You need to make sure that they don't bump against each other and don't have an opportunity to fall during the drive.

If your venue is some distance from where you live, and you need to fly or take the train, you may find that your equipment is not quite as subject to bumping as it is on the highway. That doesn't mean, however, that you should be any less cautious. You still want to protect your equipment, especially on a plane where you may be subject to turbulence. Even if your equipment is insured, you don't want to have to worry about it being damaged before you reach the venue, and have to make arrangements to rent equipment to use for your show.

For local venues, a van is much better than a truck or even SUV because of the size the ease of putting instruments into it. An SUV can be somewhat small for transporting a large drum set, and a regular truck offers no protection in case of rain. The latter may be find if you find yourself in a bind, but when it comes time to buy a vehicle for transporting band equipment, a cargo van is your best choice. In fact, you may want to put some cushioning in the back of the van perhaps carpet the sides, especially if you don't plan to use the van for any other purpose. This will save you from having to tote along extra padding when you travel with the equipment. The earlier you learn how to properly transport your equipment, the easier it will be later if you choose to go national with your act and have to move the equipment more frequently and transport it for longer distances.

Keeping everything protected and safe means that when you get to your destination, you know that everything will be ready to go right on stage for practice and performance. Take all of the precautions now, and you will reap many benefits later in the time savings and longevity of your instruments' lives. Don't try to cut corners with your protective equipmentbuy the best that is on the market.
Article Directory: http://www.articledashboard.com
By:

Brian Avery is a freelance editor for Rockin Drum Store. Whether you're 15 or 70, you can travel just about anywhere in the world for free, and even with a nice stash of cash in your pocket. This would be done by telling like-minded people about a trip and convincing them to go with you. The three top incentives to get people to do anything is cash, products and travel.

To travel from Arusha to Dar es Salaam is easiest by air, however, this will cost about US$200 per person. In order for your company to have a good travel incentive program, you have to have contacts in the travel industry that will enable you to send winners anyway at very little cost to you. If you want to leave Arusha and travel by bus to make the ferry crossing to Zanzibar in a single day, I would suggest leaving Arusha around 6 am to ensure you are in Dar es Salaam by 2pm.

By booking the services of a solid, competitive shuttle van transportation company, you will benefit from special rates when traveling to Disneyland and other popular attractions. Some travel reward credit cards offer cash advances that can be very helpful when you travel, but you should remember to inquire about the charge for cash advances.

At first glance the fares that these airlines charge can seem ridiculously low; Ryan Air have given their flights away almost for free in the past although you still have to pay the airport tax of around twenty UK pounds. Firstly, the low fares airlines in Europe nearly always use out of town provincial airports often about forty or fifty miles from the respective city centers.

The internet is of course a great place for information, other sources are friends and family who have traveled to the destination, travel agents, a library or bookstore, embassies, consulates and tourist boards.

It is also helpful if you are familiar with the schedule and the value of the travel rewards that these credit cards may offer. It would be smart to be familiar with the schedule and the value of the travel rewards that these credit cards may offer.
Article Directory: http://www.articledashboard.com
By: Sammy Maseko

More travel related tips and information are found by visiting this website: Independent Travel Agents and also get Information On Becoming A Travel Agent. [Alexa.com September 2006]

Offering services such as fare tracker and fare compare, Expedia encourages its customers to focus on cost and at least offer then the perception that they are getting the best deal.

Founded in 1994 as a division of Microsoft, Expedia was spun off on 1999 and purchased by IAC / InterActiveCorp in 2001. The brand itself hasnt changed a great deal since 2000 which is unusual with a website led business. This emphasises that Expedia focus on efficiency rather than image.

Expedia Position

An efficient, logical, knowledgeable yet cold looking website and brand, Expedia focus on offering best value Internet travel deals.

Expedia's $50 coupon for all-inclusive bookings and its recent focus on all-inclusive getaways is the thinly veiled fear among online agencies that consumers will shop around. [USAToday.com]

Whilst focusing on the all-inclusive travel deal, Expedia have decided to use this method to try and ensure that customers stay with them. Diminishing airline ticket margins have encouraged them to focus on the bundle.

Expedias strengths include its history of operating underneath the Microsoft net. This has not only enabled Expedia to maximise its technological know-how, but also offered it the opportunity to capitalise being part of one of the most trustworthy software brands in the world. Although efficient in manner, because Expedia hasnt undergone any image reinvention since 2000, it could be argued that it has allowed Travelocity to overtake it in terms of being visually appealing.

The fact however remains that Expedia have now held the number one position in the online travel marketplace for a number of years? Will this change in the near future? It doesnt look too likely.

Expedia Core Competences

Expedias core competency is the superior understanding of technology within the Internet travel marketplace. This has enabled for them to gain first mover advantage in the sector by forming appropriate strategic alliances.

Expedia Competitive Advantage

Expedia have decided to go down a dangerous route by choosing a cost advantage as their competitive advantage. They have chosen to do this because they know that they already have the most popular Internet travel portal. Time will tell whether or not other companies such as Travelocity will be able to ensure that online travel customers are willing to spend more to receive greater service, facilities or perceived brand value.

However, in addition, Expedia have an extensive affiliate marketing portfolio of partners. Through CJ.com (Commission Junction) Expedia are continually offering other websites the opportunity to market their services in exchange for a percentage of the final booking fee. (Commonly around 5%) Compared with their nearest competitor, Travelocity, Expedia have been much more aggressive with their use of affiliate marketing.

The fact however remains that Expedia have now held the number one position in the online travel marketplace for a number of years? All three of these offer individual benefits, including discounts, price cuts, or other promotion offers.

This website offers a variety of resources to finding cheap flights, look around and you can find a lot of great deals from suppliers we ourselves prefer.

The internet is also a wonderful tool for acquiring cheap flights. There are many sites that you can check out to get cheap flight information, including Expedia, Travelocity, Priceline, etc. There are so many.

Airfare Consolidators are also easy to find. I typed airfare consolidators in WebCrawler and found a site www.twarp.com that lists several consolidators. How do consolidators give you a cheap flight? Consolidators purchase the tickets in bulk from the airlines. Just like when you purchase 200 tea bags at a price of $4, instead of paying $2.50 for 100. It is more cost efficient to buy in bulk. That is exactly what consolidators do. Then, they offer a price that is below what the typical ticket costs to make sure that it is appealing to customers.

Travel Agents are a little more expensive usually. However, they sometimes have access to airlines cheap flight deals that are not available through the internet or through a consolidator. These deals are offered by the airline and usually allow large discounts. I local company in Columbus, Ohio last year offered $99 airplane tickets to Orlando, Florida. These cheap flights were only available at $99 dollars, if you went through a specific travel agent. Travel agents are typically the most expensive source for airline tickets, because they have more people employed. Therefore, they have to charge a larger commission to be able to pay the employee.

There are other ways to obtain cheap flights, including flying outside of peak flying times. Peak flying times will vary depending on the airline and on the destination. If you are arriving at your destination at an off peak hour, then you may get a discount for that as well as getting a discount for leaving at an off peak hour. For example, fly during the early morning hours if there is a flight available then. This usually drops the price of the ticket, because no one wants to fly anywhere at three oclock in the morning unless they are used to not sleeping at night.

Flying during off seasons is another way to save on airline tickets. If you are flying to Florida, for example, fly during the beginning of their summer months. Most people inside the U.S. that travel to Florida travel there to escape the cold temperatures of home. Because of that, airline companies offer higher priced tickets when the tickets are in demand, or in the winter months. So, when the tickets are not in demand (when it is 100 degrees during the day in Florida), the airline tickets are much cheaper.

No matter which type of source you use to find the cheapest flight, everyone has the options described above. The only question is whether you will use them the next time you take a trip or at the very least shop around and see if you are already getting the best deal for your money. Even though cheap flights are inexpensive, make sure that you are only looking for price. If you want to have a direct flight for example, you will not find the cheapest flight available for the destination you are traveling to. Typically the cheapest flights include a layover in a large city, such as Atlanta, New York City, Phoenix, etc.

The best advise I can offer when finding airline tickets is, Do the research and you will find what you are looking for. This does not mean that you will find tickets for $5 dollars, but every time you find a cheaper flight plan, you may save $5 dollars. As your searching, keep an eye on every $5 that you save and see how quickly the savings add up.
Article Directory: http://www.articledashboard.com
By: Jacky Uy

Jacky Uy writes for www.cheapairfareguide.info where you can find out more about cheap airfare guides and other topics.

Google
